God Has the Final Word

There are a lot of voices trying to tell you who you are. Culture has a voice, fear has a voice, your past has a voice, your mistakes have a voice. Social media definitely has a voice. But here's the question. When all of those voices are talking, do you know which voice has the final word? Because Hebrews 1, verse 2, it reminds us that God did not stay silent. He didn't leave us guessing. He did not send mixed signals. God spoke. And his clearest message came through his son. Welcome to the Intentional Grounding Godcast Letters to Isaiah. I'm your faith strategist, Coach Dombrowski, and I'm here to help you live out your walk, not just believe it. Well, today we're going to talk about what it means that God has spoken through Jesus, why that matters in your everyday life, and how to stop letting every other voice become louder than the voice of Christ. Because when you know who God has spoken through, you know where to go for truth, direction, identity, correction, and hope. And today's verse comes from Hebrews 1, verse 2. And Hebrews opens by reminding us that God has always been speaking. And then scripture tells us that in these last days, God spoke in the clearest way possible through Jesus. And the book of Hebrews was written by, well, actually two believers who were under pressure. Some were tired, some were discouraged, some were tempted to drift backwards, some were wondering if following Jesus was really even worth it. So it begins by lifting their eyes. And before it talks about endurance and suffering and discipline or even faith or finishing the race, it starts with Jesus. Because if you lose sight of who Jesus is, everything else gets heavier. So here it is, Hebrews 1, verse 2. It says, But in these last days he has spoken to us by his son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. Now, the phrase, in these last days, doesn't mean God is trying to scare us into panic. It means history has moved into its fulfillment through Jesus. All right. The old promises were pointing somewhere. The prophets were pointing somewhere. The sacrifices were pointing somewhere. And the law was pointing somewhere. They were all pointing towards Christ. Then the Hebrews says, God has spoken to us by his son. That means Jesus is not just another messenger. He's not just another religious figure. He is the full revelation of God. And if you want to know what God is like, look at Jesus. If you want to know how God loves, look at Jesus. If you want to know how God responds to sinners, sufferers, the brokenhearted, the proud, the lost, and the weary, look at Jesus. Then the verse says, Jesus was appointed heir of all things. That means everything, right? Everything belongs to him, not some things, not religious things only, everything. Your future, right? It's not outside of his reach. Your pain is not outside of his authority. Your questions are not too big for him. Your life is not random to him. And then Hebrews says that through Jesus, God made the universe. That means Jesus is not small. He's not limited. He's not just a comforting idea for the hard days. He is creator. He is king. He is Lord. He is the one through whom all things were made. So when Jesus speaks, heaven is not making a suggestion. God has spoken. Now, there are a couple points that I want to make here. The first one is God is not silent. And sometimes life feels quiet. You pray, you don't get the answer right away, or you ask God for direction and you still feel unsure. Or you open your Bible and wonder why things are not changing faster. But Hebrews 1, verse 2 reminds us silence is not the same thing as absence. God has spoken through Jesus. That means when you're confused, you don't have to start with your emotions. You start with Christ. When you feel unworthy, you don't start with shame. You start with Christ. When your future feels uncertain, you don't start with fear. Guess what? You start with Christ. Jesus is God's clearest message to humanity. The second point I want to make is Jesus shows us what God is like. And a lot of people have a picture of God that came from pain, bad teaching, religious pressure, disappointment, fear. They see God as distant and angry and unreachable and uninterested or waiting to crush them. But Jesus changes that picture, right? Jesus touched lepers, Jesus welcomed children, Jesus forgave sinners, he corrected pride. He wept at graves. He fed the hungry. So when Hebrews says God has spoken through his son, it means Jesus is the language of God made visible. Jesus shows us the heart of the Father. Now the third point I have for you is Jesus has authority over everything. Hebrews says Jesus is the heir of all things and the one through whom God made the universe. That means Jesus does not just have authority in the church. He has authority in your home, at work, your decisions, in your relationships, in your calling, in your future. And that is great news. Because if Jesus has authority over all things, then nothing in your life is outside of his reach. Not even your anxiety, your regrets, right? Your family situation or the addiction, the grief, the next step, your finances. Everything belongs under his lordship, right? So how do you walk it out? Well, we stop treating Jesus like an emergency contact and start treating him like Lord. That means before you let fear speak, you go to Jesus. Before you let culture define you, you go to Jesus. Before you let your past label you, you're going to Jesus. Before you make the decision, before you send the message, before you respond in anger, or you quit too early, or you settle for less. You pause and you ask, what has God already spoken through his son? Because Jesus does not just comfort us, he leads us. And right now, somebody listening to this is letting too many voices have authority. You know what God says, but fear has been louder. You know what Jesus taught, but the culture has been louder. You know what scripture says, but your insecurity has been louder. And you may know who Christ is, but your circumstances have been louder. And I think that this verse brings us back to center. God has spoken through Jesus. So the question is not, does God have something to say? The question is, Am I listening to the one he sent? So the mindset shift in all of this is to stop asking every voice to confirm what Jesus has already made clear. Right? If Jesus has spoken truth, you don't need fear's permission. If Jesus called you forgiven, you do not need shame's approval. If Jesus called you to follow him, you do not need culture to agree. If Jesus is Lord, then his voice is not one option among many. His voice is final. So here's how you begin to make that change this week. First, identify the voice that you've been listening to the most. Is it fear? Is it anger? Is it comparison or bitterness or regret or pressure? Is it people pleasing? And then bring that voice under the authority of Jesus. Ask yourself, does this agree with who Jesus is and what he has spoken? Third, replace that voice with truth. When fear says you're alone, remember Jesus, he would never leave you. When shame says you're too far gone, remember Jesus came to seek and save the lost. When culture says define yourself, remember, Jesus calls you to deny yourself, follow him, and find real life. When anxiety says everything is falling apart, remember the one who made the universe is still holding everything together. And if you continue on this journey, you'll become less controlled by every loud voice around you. You'll not become perfect overnight, but you will become steadier. You'll recognize fear a lot faster. You'll recognize lies sooner. You'll recognize the difference between pressure and conviction. And you'll learn to test what you hear against the voice of Christ. And over time, your life will become more grounded. Not because everything around you became quieter, but because the voice of Jesus became louder in you. So tomorrow, when you wake up, man, don't start your day by handing the microphone to anxiety. Don't let your phone preach to you before Jesus does. Before the emails, the noise, the pressure, the opinions, the responsibilities take over. Take one quiet moment and say, Lord, you have spoken through your son. Help me listen to Jesus today. That one prayer will reset the direction of your entire day. Honestly, the deeper truth in Hebrews 1, verse 2 is that God's message through Jesus is not incomplete. A lot of people live like they're still waiting for God to prove who he is. But Jesus is the proof. The cross shows his love. The resurrection shows his power. His teaching shows his truth. His compassion shows his heart. His authority shows his lordship. That means when life gets confusing, you don't need to chase every spiritual trend, every opinion, every emotional reaction or every voice claiming to have the answer. You come back to Jesus. Jesus is not just part of the Christian faith. Jesus is the center of it. Without him, we are left guessing. With him, we see God clearly. And that matters because the world will constantly try to redefine truth. Truth is not just an idea. Truth has a name. Jesus. Not someone who is easily moved by every headline. Not someone who is constantly crushed by every opinion. Not someone who lets fear write the story, but someone who says, God has spoken. Jesus is Lord. His voice gets the final word in my life. That is the kind of faith that leaves a legacy. Because the people coming behind you, they need to see what it looks like to be grounded in Christ when the word and the world, sorry, is loud. Now to my grandson Isaiah, one day you're going to hear a lot of voices. Some are going to tell you who to be, some will tell you what matters, some will tell you what success looks like. Some will tell you to make you feel like following Jesus is outdated, unnecessary, or maybe even too hard. But I want you to remember this. God has already spoken through his son. That means Jesus is not just one voice in the crowd. He is the voice you build your life on. When you're confused or you're hurting or you're tempted, you look to Jesus. When you feel pressure to become someone that God never called you to be, look to Jesus. The world's going to get loud, buddy. But loud does not always mean true. Jesus is truth. And if you learn to follow his voice early, you'll not be so easily pulled apart by every other voice later on. I love you, pal. Guys, think about a courtroom. Okay, witnesses can speak. Lawyers, they argue, people can give opinions, noise will fill the room. Eventually, the judge speaks. And when the judge speaks, that word carries authority. Well, Hebrews 1, verse 2 reminds us that God has spoken through his son. So this week, when fear, shame, pressure, culture, or confusion starts talking, remember this: Jesus gets the final word. Your action this week, it's it's simple. Before you react to the loudest voice in your life, pause and ask, what does Jesus say? It will change your direction.
